SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward Gartley, who passed away on March 19, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Edward Gartley was born on July 4, 1925 in Waukegan; his parents were Edward and Helen Gartley; he married Agnes Budak on September 4, 1948; he was a lifelong resident of the City of Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force on July 20, 1946, Edward Gartley graduated from navigational school in Texas, where he trained new recruits; he subsequently worked at the Great Lakes Naval Station for 38 years until his retirement on June 30, 1985; and

WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Edward Gartley enjoyed golfing, gardening, and spending time with his children and grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Edward Gartley was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Agnes; his parents; a son-in-law, Ray; his special friend, Florence Jesenovec; and his great-grandsons, Finn and Jack; and

WHEREAS, Edward Gartley is survived by his children, Preston, Patty, Barbara, Kevin (Marsha), and Jeff; his grandchildren, Rachel (Sean), Kevin, Jr. (Lisa), Amanda (Kelley), Beau, Clancy, Bailey, Vinnie, Blair, Sydney, and Jake; his great grandchildren, Henry, Rhys, and Keri; and his brother, Dick; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward Gartley; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward Gartley as an expression of our sympathy.
