SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert Barnett, Jr. of Waukegan, who
4passed away on January 24, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Barnett, Jr. was born on November 19, 1947
6to Robert, Sr. and Anita (nee Nuding) Barnett; he attended St.
7Joseph's school and parish and graduated from Waukegan Township
8High School in 1965, proudly bearing ROTC honors; he earned a
9degree in psychology from Marquette University in 1969; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Barnett, Jr. returned to Waukegan to work
11for Matthews employment as a placement counselor; he retired
12from Zion Benton Township High School in June of 2014 after 13
13years of service as a paraprofessional; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Robert Barnett, Jr. will be remembered for his
15spirited civic participation, from legendary letters to the
16editor of the News Sun regarding any manner of Waukegan
17business, to his involvement with Knights of Columbus #731,
18Scoop the Loop, and the rebirth of the Genesee Theatre; he was
19a devoted member of a community of parents at Immaculate
20Conception school and parish; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Robert Barnett, Jr. was preceded in death by his

1parents and his infant brother, Kenneth; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Robert Barnett, Jr. is survived by his 3 children,
3Keith (Danielle) Barnett, Ryan Barnett, and Kristen Barnett and
4their mother, Gail Driscoll; his 5 grandchildren, Mason,
5Finley, and Graham Barnett (Keith & Danielle) and Nora and
6Reese Barnett (Ryan); and his dear friends, Lynette Fuerst and
7Sandy Pokett; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Robert Barnett, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Robert Barnett, Jr. as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
