SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frederick S. Carroll of Richmond, who passed away on December 6, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Carroll was born on January 3, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland; his parents were Miles and Mary Louise (nee Steil) Carroll; he married Nancy Neucks on October 18, 1982 in Evansville, Indiana; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Carroll was a graduate of St. Paul's School in Baltimore in 1965; he later earned his bachelor's degree from American University in Washington, DC, and his master's degree from the American Graduate School of International Management in Arizona; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Carroll served in the United States Army as a specialist during the Vietnam War; he was a recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge and was awarded multiple Purple Hearts; and

WHEREAS, After working as a salesman for Stryker Equipment, Frederick Carroll and his wife formed Merit Medical in McHenry, which they operated for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Carroll was a member and president of the Richmond-Spring Grove Area Rotary Club; he also served as Republican precinct captain for several years; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Carroll enjoyed antique cars and had a keen interest in books, especially ones about history; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Carroll is survived by his wife, Nancy; a brother, Thomas (Deb) Carroll; 2 nieces, Erin Sutton and Amanda McClure; a sister-in-law, Jayne (James) Thorne; 2 nieces, Maureen (Aaron) Kauffman and Meredith (Michael) Fleming; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews, including Hadlee Sutton and Piper and Quinn McClure; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Frederick S. Carroll; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frederick Carroll as an expression of our sympathy.
