SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Howard Jones, Jr. of Lake Forest, who passed away on March 9, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Howard Jones, Jr. was born in Oak Park on February 19, 1929 to Howard, Sr. and Margaret (Fisher); he attended Ascension Grade School and Fenwick High School in Oak Park and Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, In the 1950s, Howard Jones, Jr. worked in various jobs in Miami Beach and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, a locale that would forever be his home away from home; he married Nancy Keenan on September 13, 1958 in Oak Park; and

WHEREAS, Howard Jones, Jr. began his business career with the Insurance Company of North America (INA), and later as the owner/operator of his own independent agency in Deerfield, Lake Forest, and Forest Park; and

WHEREAS, Howard Jones, Jr. was an avid athlete and enjoyed tennis, basketball, baseball, football, and hockey; he coached numerous little league baseball and basketball teams in Deerfield; and

WHEREAS, Howard Jones, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Howard Jones, Jr. is survived by his 5 sons, Reverend Michael Keenan, Matthew (Carol), Mark, Patrick (Lori), and Peter (Jennifer); his daughter, Nan Weitzman (Scott); his grandchildren, Samuel, Carly, Dani, Jake, Matthew, Charles, Anna, Howard William, III, Luke, Emma, Molly, Murphy, Mac, and Max Weitzman; and countless friends in the Chicago area as well as his many friends and neighbors in the Ocean Colony community of Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing Howard Jones, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Howard Jones, Jr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
