SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Melvin R. Nelson of McHenry, who passed away on January 28, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Nelson was born on January 21, 1915 in Crystal Lake; his parents were George and Rose (nee Gaebe) Nelson; he married Marie C. Pepping on May 21, 1938 in Crystal Lake; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Nelson served his country in the United States Navy in 1935; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Nelson was employed with the Northern Illinois Gas Company for 35 years; he was also a volunteer fireman in Crystal Lake for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, After retiring in 1976, Melvin Nelson and his wife moved to Minong, Wisconsin, where he enjoyed the retirement life of fishing and playing cards; they later moved to McHenry to be closer to their family, and remained there for the next 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; his parents, a brother, Robert Nelson; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Nelson; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Nelson is survived by 2 children, Mary (Robert Miklosh) Griffin and Mark Nelson, and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Melvin R. Nelson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Melvin Nelson as an expression of our sympathy.
