SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth Chisholm Bennett of Lake Forest, who passed away on December 11, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Bennett was born on March 28, 1927 and raised in Highland Park; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Bennett was an English professor at Lake Forest College for almost 40 years; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Bennett published a book on Shakespeare Sonnets; he and his wife enjoyed spending his sabbaticals in London, England; he enjoyed Bridge tournaments, where he reached the rank of Life Master; he was an accomplished artist, working in pastels and watercolors, and exhibited his work locally; he also was extremely fond of the opera; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Bennett was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Doris "DJ" Jean; his parents, Kenneth and Rowena; and his sister, Carol (Joseph) Carnes; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Bennett is survived by his son, Bruce (Patricia); his daughter, Lise; his grandchildren, Elliot (Amanda), Dustin, Annie, and Molly; his great-grandchildren, Stella and Aiden; and his sister, Bonnie (John) Korngiebel; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kenneth Chisholm Bennett, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kenneth Bennett as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
