SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dan Knight of Park Ridge, who passed away on December 20, 2016, at the age of 58; and

WHEREAS, Dan Knight graduated from Loyola University Chicago and DePaul University; and

WHEREAS, Dan Knight served as Alderman for the City of Park Ridge since 2011; he chaired the city council's finance and budget committee; and

WHEREAS, Dan Knight advocated transparency and accountability within city government, frequently objecting to closed session meetings; and

WHEREAS, Dan Knight started an annual barbecue to raise money for the Park Ridge Fine Arts Society, which will be continued in his honor; and

WHEREAS, Most recently, Dan Knight was the city council's liaison to the library board and Chairman of the Mayor's Advisory Board; and

WHEREAS, Dan Knight is survived by wife, Susan (Muench), and his sons, Will and Michael; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dan Knight, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dan Knight as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
