SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald G. Schellhaass of Marengo, who passed away on October 31, 2016 at the age of 69; and

WHEREAS, Donald Schellhaass was born in Dundee, Wisconsin to Carl and Adeline (Hafermann) Schellhaass on May 2, 1947; he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967-1968 in the Vietnam War; he married Christine H. Urbanus in Woodstock on June 28, 1997; and

WHEREAS, Donald Schellhaass retired as the administrator for the University of Illinois Extension in Woodstock; and

WHEREAS, Donald Schellhaass was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard, the University of Illinois Master Gardeners, the McHenry County Farm Bureau, the Illinois Grape Growers and Vintners Association, the Northern Illinois Wine and Grape Growers, and the Woodstock Wood Workers; he was also a past member of the 4-H Foundation and Illinois Extension Council; he enjoyed many hours of volunteering at the Harvard Community Garden; and he always enjoyed a social gathering and spending many hours in the garden and vineyard; and

WHEREAS, Donald Schellhaass was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Adeline Schellhaass; and his brother, Dale Schellhaass; and

WHEREAS, Donald Schellhaass is survived by his wife, Christine H. Schellhaass; his children, Tina (Ken) Penrod, Tawny (John) Havert, and Trent (Joy) Schellhaass; his stepchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Dallas, Kristin Urbanus, and Michael Urbanus; his grandchildren, Jacob, Addie, and Alissa Penrod, Mikayla Havert, Tyler Kostopoulos, Abagail Schellhaass, and Emma and Jack Dallas; his siblings, Sandy (Bernie) Baldwin, David (Cheryle) Schellhaass, Mary (Ray) Sulger, Bonnie (Joe) Stilp, Dennis Schellhaass, and Danny (Barb) Schellhaass; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Donald G. Schellhaass, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Schellhaass as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
