SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Therese I. Duffy of Woodstock, who passed
4away on November 1, 2016 at the age of 88; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Therese Duffy was born in Chicago to John and
6Irene (Paravich) Tobin on June 22, 1928; she married Michael
7Duffy in Chicago on June 5, 1948; she attended school at both
8Elgin Community College and McHenry County College; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Therese Duffy worked in the medical field for
10almost 60 years; in 1956, she started her career at Woodstock
11Memorial Hospital working as a nurse's aid until becoming an
12LPN from 1966 until 1976; she became a Registered Nurse in 1976
13and became a House Supervisor in 1980; after retiring, she
14remained active at Woodstock Memorial as an Alumni Nurse and as
15the gift shop manager; she continued to volunteer at Centegra
16Hospital until September of 2016; she was a member of Saint
17Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Therese Duffy was preceded in death by her
19parents; her husband; and her daughters-in-law, Julia Duffy and
20Twylhae Hiatt; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Therese Duffy is survived by five sons, Michael

1Duffy, John Duffy, Timothy (Catherine) Duffy, Lawrence
2(Danette) Duffy, and Patrick (Chrystal) Duffy; her daughter,
3Colleen (Larry) Bowles; her 14 grandchildren, James, Paul,
4Wayne, Meaghan, Beth, Courtney, Lawrence, Matthew, Benjamin,
5Michael, Teagan, Grady, Misty and Sonja; many
6great-grandchildren; and her brother, John Tobin; therefore,
7be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
10family and friends, mourn the passing of Therese I. Duffy, and
11extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all
12who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Therese Duffy as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
