SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Clair L. Thompson of Edgington, who passed away on December 12, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Clair Thompson was born in Mercer County to Earl and Sylvia Anderson Thompson on August 14, 1928; he graduated from Aledo High School in 1946 and served in the United States Air Force; he married Lillie Menes; later, he married Marilyn Fuhr Shaffer in Edgington on December 13, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Clair Thompson was a lifetime farmer and also a tractor mechanic; in earlier years, he also owned and operated Clair's Shell Service and then worked at Lafever & Duncan in Aledo; and

WHEREAS, Clair Thompson enjoyed working on antique tractors, automobiles, and going to area car shows in his "T Bucket"; he also enjoyed dancing, polka music, and feeding the birds and squirrels; and

WHEREAS, Clair Thompson was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Carl Thompson; and his sisters, Wanda Fausett, and Kathleen Leary; and

WHEREAS, Clair Thompson is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his sons, Dan (Cindy) Thompson, Dave (Elaine) Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Larry Thompson, and Tim (Jennifer) Thompson; his stepchildren; his 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; his sisters, Verla Thompson, and Eleanor "Curly" McAtee; his brother, Earl "Bud" Thompson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Clair L. Thompson, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Clair Thompson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
