SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Sharon A. Skaggs of Ashamy, who passed away on December 9, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Skaggs was born in Chicago to Roger and Eleanore (Bjornson) Ashamy on November 1, 1946; she graduated from St. Paul's grade school in 1960 and St. Francis Academy in 1964; she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English in 1968 and her Master of Arts in Speech in 1969, both from the University of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Skaggs taught full-time at Triton College; she was a volunteer teacher on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota and worked in the family clothing store in Coal City (Ashamys); she taught part-time at Joliet Junior College and retired as a City of Joliet parking deck employee; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Skaggs was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers-in-law, Marc Fuchs, and William and Paul Skaggs; and her niece, Angela Rhotten; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Skaggs is survived by her husband of over 41 years, Raymond Gerald Skaggs; her son, Patrick Skaggs; her daughter, Maureen Skaggs; her sister, Corinne Fuchs; her brother-in-law, Robert (Minnie) Skaggs; her nieces, Kim (Eric) Magee, Becky (Brad) Foster, and Karyn Showers; her nephews, Jeffery (Blessie) Skaggs, Steven (Valerie) Skaggs, and Will (Wendy) Skaggs, and many great-nieces and great-nephews, including Abbey and Luke Foster, and Burke and Britt Magee; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Sharon A. Skaggs, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sharon Skaggs as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
