SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Bill" Casey, who passed away in December of 2016 at the age of 87; and

WHEREAS, William Casey was a native of Carnacon, County Mayo, Ireland; and

WHEREAS, William Casey served in the United States Army during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, William Casey was the former President and Treasurer (23 years) of The Shamrock American Club; he was a former board member and active volunteer with the Irish American Heritage Center; he was a Eucharistic Minister for 25 years at St. Juliana Church Parish; and

WHEREAS, William Casey was preceded in death by his brothers, Malachy, Michael, and Peter; his sister, Mary Raleigh; his brothers-in-law, Michael Raleigh, and Mike Byrne; and his sister-in-law, Eileen; and

WHEREAS, William Casey is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret; his daughters, Margaret (Michael) Tower, and Katie Casey; his son, William (Amy); and his grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Jack, and Christopher Tower, and Hannah and Sarah Casey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William "Bill" Casey, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Casey as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
