SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lewis Allen Carmichael of Oak Park, who passed away on December 30, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Carmichael was born in Hope, Indiana to Norman and Ellenore Carmichael on January 31, 1931; he served in the United States Navy and married Jackie Carmichael in 1956; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Carmichael had been employed as a dentist, substitute teacher, and a cabbie; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Carmichael was a photographer; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Carmichael was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Carmichael was a dedicated Democratic party member and was a longtime volunteer with the Democratic Party of Oak Park; he worked tirelessly for years in support of Democratic candidates; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Carmichael loved being a grandfather; he was well-loved and appreciated for his personality; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Carmichael is survived by Jackie; his children, Harry Carmichael, Rebecca Simon, and Jason Carmichael; and his grandchildren, Caithen, Dorothy, Norman, Gregory, Robert, Christopher, Mikey, Alex, Peter, Olivia, and Sydney; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lewis Allen Carmichael, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lewis Carmichael as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
