SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert J. Nimits of Waukegan, who passed away on November 7, 2016, at the age of 91; and

WHEREAS, Robert Nimits was born to Charles and Myrtle Nimits in 1924; during World War II, he was an Army ROTC instructor at the high school level; following the war, he enrolled at Northern Illinois University and graduated with an education degree in 1950; and

WHEREAS, Robert Nimits taught in Waukegan and Zion for 28 years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Nimits was a sports enthusiast and dedicated Chicago White Sox fan; he managed several church athletic teams for many years; affectionately known as "Volunteer Bob", he is best remembered for his volunteer service, especially at Victory/Vista Hospital, where he served every weekday until July of 2016; and

WHEREAS, Robert Nimits was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Nimits, and Mary Hayes; his nephew, William "Bill" Hayes Jr.; and his close friend, Frieda Ernst; and

WHEREAS, Robert Nimits is survived by his wife, Jennifer Hayes; his children, Katie, and Michael; and many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert J. Nimits, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Nimits as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
