SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Louvenia Peters; and

WHEREAS, Louvenia Peters was born in Alexander, Arkansas to Willie Emma and Peter Glaze on September 12, 1932; she was baptized at Sharon Baptist Church in Alexander and later relocated to Chicago, where she joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church; she married William E. Peters; and

WHEREAS, Louvenia Peters joined Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church and then attended Rock of Ages; she rejoined Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Louvenia Peters was known as "Mother Peters" or "Granny" to all; she loved her family dearly and often shared family stories with her children; and

WHEREAS, Louvenia Peters was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; her son, William M. Peters; her sister, Dorothy (AC) Wallace; her siblings, Fred, Jake, William Henry, Calvin, Ora Lee, Zue Ella, and Thelma; and a host of extended family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Louvenia Peters is survived by her children, Linda Evans, Eric Peters, Tracy (Herman) Morris, Valerie Taylor, Lisa Peters, and William M. Peters; her grandchildren, Dana, Tasha (Carl), Tashaunda (Brandon), Alexandra (Keir), Erica (Dominique), Sheena, Sondra (William), William Jr., and Bria; and her great-grandchildren, Carlotta, Jordan, Amaya, Dariel, Tyler, Brenton, Amani, Keir Jr., Chase, and Patricia; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Louvenia Peters, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Louvenia Peters as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
