SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Earl G. Weichel of Rantoul, who passed
4away on July 2, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Earl Weichel was born on December 22, 1928 in
6Dubuque, Iowa; he married Joan L. Dettmann on July 10, 1959 at
7the First Presbyterian Church in Dubuque, Iowa; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Earl Weichel served in the United States Navy and
9the United States Army from 1946 to 1954; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Earl Weichel worked in management of Caradco for
11many years until his retirement in 1995; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Earl Weichel loved Rantoul and was active in the
13community in many capacities; he served as director and past
14president of the Armed Services YMCA, director of the Rantoul
15Chamber of Commerce, section leader for the United Way,
16director of the Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum, and director
17and president of the Rantoul Community Foundation; he was also
18a member of the Fraternal Order of Free and Accepted Masons and
19served as president of the Rantoul Rotary Club in 1985; his
20involvement in the community earned him the "Outstanding
21Citizen of the Year" award; and

1    WHEREAS, Earl Weichel enjoyed fly fishing, woodworking,
2and spending time with his children and granddaughter; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Earl Weichel is survived by his wife, Joan; his
4children, Pamela Harris and Craig Weichel; his granddaughter,
5Alyssa Harris; his son-in-law, Tom Harris; and his sisters,
6Hilda Shade and Glenda Reynolds; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Earl G. Weichel; and
10be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Earl G. Weichel as an expression of
13our sympathy.
