SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Christine Crushella "Chris" Radford-Eastern, who passed away on October 14, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Christine Radford-Eastern was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Johnnie Sr. and Jacqueline Cotton Radford on October 11, 1970; she grew up in Parkside and graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1988, where she was named Homecoming Queen; she later graduated from The Academy School of Beauty Culture and became a licensed cosmetologist; she married Robert "Bobby" Eastern III in Sarasota, Florida on June 8, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Christine Radford-Eastern was employed briefly with the Casino Queen; she then worked at Diva 226 Salon; she later moved to The Mainstreet Salon; in 2005, she became co-owner and signature master stylist at Jaqueline's Salon; she became one of the premier designers of hair and a personal stylist in the bi-state area; and

WHEREAS, Christine Radford-Eastern was baptized at her home church, Power of Change Christian Church; and

WHEREAS, Christine Radford-Eastern was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie; her grandmother; and her nephews, DeJan Raphael Radford, and Jeremiah DeJan Radford; and

WHEREAS, Christine Radford-Eastern is survived by her husband, Robert; her children, Christian Cooper, Ra'Ven, D'Moi, Shayvon, D'Wan, and Robert Eastern IV; her mother, Jaqueline (Frank) Smith; her brothers, Johnnie (Tamaria) Radford, Jeremiah (Felicia) Radford, and David Smith; her sisters, Amanie Smith, Teresa Harris, and Jessica Radford; her aunt, Diane Cotton; her special traveling nurse and aunt, Lorna Sanders; her uncles, Ronald Carpenter, and Donald (Donna) Carpenter; her godmothers, Billie Jean Thornton, and Dorcas Jackson; her godsisters, Demetria McPherson, and Samantha Jackson; her goddaughter, Tahira Nash; her "besties", Shantel Nfiller, Nfichelle Hopkins-Harris, Gina Jones-Manual, Dettra Blakely-Fields, Cassandra Carter, Laton Chairs, and Eudora Lawary; her special cousins, Amandra Cotton-Jones, and Enita Johnson-Rodgers; Bobby's Angels; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Christine Crushella "Chris" Radford-Eastern, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Christine Radford-Eastern as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
