SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Velma M. Ambrose of Carlinville, who passed away on November 3, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Velma Ambrose was born in West Memphis, Arkansas to Homer and Jessie Paris Harding on January 1, 1920; she graduated from Scottville High School in 1938 and married Coy Wayne Ambrose in Bowling Green, Missouri on February 17, 1943; and

WHEREAS, Velma Ambrose helped prepare taxes in the Scottville area for many years; and

WHEREAS, Velma Ambrose was a longtime 4-H leader and taught many area youngsters how to sew; she enjoyed painting, sewing, and spending time with her family; she was active in the Home Extension Project for several years; she was a member of the Scottville Christian Church; and

WHEREAS, Velma Ambrose was preceded in death by her husband, Coy; her parents; her sister, Elden Patterson; and two brothers; and

WHEREAS, Velma Ambrose is survived by her daughter, Janet (George) Dixon; her sons, David (Patty) Ambrose, and Terry (Lana) Ambrose; her grandchildren, Todd and Matt Dixon, Wade and Ryan Ambrose, and Lisa Templeton; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Carroll Woolfolk; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Velma M. Ambrose, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Velma Ambrose as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
