SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Glen A. Marcum, who passed away on
4November 1, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Glen Marcum was born in Joliet and attended
6Cunningham Grade School and Hufford Junior High; he graduated
7from Joliet Central High School in 1978; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Glen Marcum worked as an auto mechanic for 39
9years at Bertino's Auto in Joliet; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Glen Marcum devoted countless years of his life to
11the Joliet community; he was a volunteer basketball coach at
12St. Paul the Apostle School and spent three terms on the Joliet
13Grade School Board of School Inspectors; he served as President
14of the Greater Joliet Youth Foundation and President of the
15Instrumental Music Parents Association; he participated with
16the Joliet Relay for Life for 15 years, five as Chair; he was
17Co-Chair for the American Cancer Society Regional Board,
18President of the Joliet Township High School Athletic Boosters,
19and Co-Chair of the Joliet Township High School Strategic Plan
20Committee; he was head judge of the Will County Spelling
21Contest; he was a Big Brother with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and
22a member of Take Back the Night committee; he was a volunteer

1at Daybreak Shelter and instrumental in establishing the Joliet
2Grade Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence, where he
3served as President; he was a political analyst for WJOL, and
4served two terms with the Joliet Park District, three years as
5President; he served on the City Center Partnership Christmas
6Parade Committee and as a Right Moves for Youth Board Member;
7he was a member of the Old Timers Baseball Association and Men
8Who Cook; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Glen Marcum was preceded in death by his mother,
10Twila (Florey) Marcum, and his brothers, Richard Marcum, and
11Randy Marcum; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Glen Marcum is survived by his wife of 34 years,
13Patricia (Seeman) Marcum; his children, Brett (Samantha)
14Marcum, Patrick Marcum, Allison (Ben) Gunnink, and Tyler (Beth)
15Marcum; his father, James R. Marcum; his siblings, Brad (Kim)
16Marcum and Diane (Dave) Zuelke; his sisters-in-law, Jennianne
17Marcum, and Donna (Tony) Spillie; his brothers-in-law, Bill
18(Vicky) Seeman, Ray (Janette) Seeman, and Michael Seeman; and
19numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews,
20cousins, and dear friends; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
23Glen A. Marcum, and extend our sincere condolences to his

1family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
2further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Glen Marcum as an expression of our
5deepest sympathy.
