SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Katherine L. Rich, who passed away on October 24, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Rich was born in Marion, Kentucky to Murphy and Clara (Thomas) Lanham; she graduated from Morganfield High School in 1939 and the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Evansville, Indiana in 1944; she married Noble Rich in 1944; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Rich was a registered nurse and a longtime employee of Ingalls Memorial Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Rich was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Noble Rich; and her sister, Lucile Shackelford; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Rich is survived by her children, Nancy (Jay) Abell, David (Vicki) Rich, and Ruth Rich; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Craig) Abell-Champion, Penny (Brian) Ohlendorf, Becky Steere, Elizabeth (Adam) Sheinkopf, Amanda (Dan) Filsinger, and Dawn (Tyler) Martin; and her great-grandchildren, Brittany, Zachary, Jon, Riley, Jessica, Drew, Will, and Kellen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Katherine L. Rich, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Katherine Rich as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
