SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles A. "Chuck" McBride, Jr., who
4passed away on December 10, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles McBride, Jr. was born in Frederic,
6Wisconsin on August 13, 1932 and moved to Waukegan with his
7family in 1936; he graduated from Waukegan Township High School
8in June of 1950; he attended the University of Illinois on a
9Naval ROTC Scholarship; he obtained his Bachelor of Science in
10Civil Engineering in January of 1956, and was commissioned as
11an Ensign in the United States Navy on the same date; he served
12in the Navy for 3 years with the Pacific Fleet on an Amphibious
13Attack Cargo ship; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Charles McBride, Jr. returned to Waukegan in
15January of 1959 and worked for Bleck Engineering in Waukegan;
16he also worked for Consoer, Townsend and Associates in Chicago
17and Post, Buckley, Schuh and Jernigan in Hialeah, Florida; he
18retired from McClure Engineering Associates, Inc. in Waukegan
19in July of 2002 after 37 years as a Registered Professional
20Engineer; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Charles McBride, Jr. was very active in Christ
22Episcopal Church in Waukegan, serving as a Vestryperson and as

1Junior and Senior Wardens; he sang in the Waukegan Swedish Glee
2Club from 1960 to 1973; in 1976, after returning to
3Libertyville, he served as President of the Exchange Club of
4Grayslake and was a member of the Lake County Chapter of the
5Illinois Society of Engineers, the Christ Church's Men's Club,
6and the Lake County Shrine Club; he was a Master Mason and a
7member of Waukegan Masonic Lodge #78 Ancient Free and Accepted
8Masons and the Medinah Shrine; he also served with the Lake
9County Clerk's Office as an election judge for many years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Charles McBride, Jr. was preceded in death by his
11father, Charles A. McBride, Sr.; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Charles McBride, Jr. is survived by his wife of 57
13years, Susan; his children, Kimlet Jo Nichols (Kelly), Charles
14A. McBride, III (Cindee), and Sean McBride; his 2
15grandchildren, Tara Nichols Gehrls (Mike) and Ryan Nichols
16(Gretchen); his great-grandchild, Haydn Nichols Gehrls; and
17his mother, Elverna; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Charles A. "Chuck" McBride, Jr., and extend our sincere
21condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
22him; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Charles McBride, Jr. as an
3expression of our deepest sympathy.
