SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dennis Cooper, who passed away on September 16, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Cooper was born on June 12, 1943 in Sturdivant, Missouri; his parents were Howard and Georgia Cooper; he married Sandra "Sandi" L. Clapp on July 20, 1963 at the Cottage Hills Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Cooper and his wife were the owners and operators of Geno's 140 Club in Bethalto from June 20, 1983 until his passing; he was also president of the Illinois Licensed Beverage Association for six years; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Cooper enjoyed traveling, seeing his friends, and spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Cooper was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra; his brothers, Jerrold, David, and Michael Cooper; and his sister-in-law, Shirley Cooper; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Cooper is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Cord and Kelly Cooper and Shane and Stacy Cooper; his grandchildren, Meaghan (Chris) Kearbey and Caitlyn, Jordan, Dylan, and Wyatt Cooper; his great-grandchildren, Landon, Logan, Clayton, Machayla, and McKenna; his brothers and sister-in-law, Garry and Rose Cooper and Dawson "DM" Cooper; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Dennis Cooper; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dennis Cooper as an expression of our sympathy.
