SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William E. "Billy" Ackley of Moline, who
4passed away on August 14, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Ackley was born on March 5, 1948 in
6Davenport, Iowa; his parents were Edward B. and Eleanor Payson
7Ackley; he married Gloria Prieto on August 6, 1977 in Moline;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, William Ackley was a United States Marine Corps
10veteran; and
 
11    WHEREAS, William Ackley worked as a bricklayer in his
12younger years; he later worked as a maintenance supervisor at
13the former Trinity Medical Centers for 29 years in both Moline
14and Rock Island; and
 
15    WHEREAS, William Ackley was a former runner who
16participated in the inaugural Bix 7; he played softball and
17racquetball as a young adult; he was the treasurer of a league
18and an avid bowler at Highland Park Bowl in Moline for over 30
19years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, William Ackley enjoyed his yearly fishing trips to

1Canada, riding his Harley Davidson, watching the Chicago White
2Sox and the Detroit Lions, and spending time with his family;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, William Ackley was preceded in death by his
5parents; and
 
6    WHEREAS, William Ackley is survived by his wife, Gloria;
7his daughters, Gina (Martin) Bundy and Felicia Van Hyfte; his
8grandchildren, Tyler James, Austin Andre, Taylor Jean, Mariah
9Michelle, and Colton Michael; and his brother, Donald Ackley;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of William E. "Billy"
14Ackley; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of William Ackley as an expression of
17our sympathy.
