SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard E. "Dick" Walters of Woodstock, who passed away on July 6, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Richard Walters was born on September 20, 1942 in Woodstock; his parents were Ervin and Lucille Walters; he married Donna Gile on July 8, 1961; and

WHEREAS, Richard Walters graduated from Alden-Hebron High School; and

WHEREAS, Richard Walters farmed all of his life; his love and passion for the land and what it could produce was recognized when he was named the State of Illinois Outstanding Young Farmer; he also received the National Young Farmer Award; and

WHEREAS, Richard Walters served on the Woodstock District 200 School Board and was President for eight years; he was involved in and committed to supporting the farming community; he served on the boards of the Illinois FFA, the McHenry County Farm Bureau, Conserve FS, and Growmark, Inc.; he was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock; and

WHEREAS, Richard Walters was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth; his granddaughter, Jamie; and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Richard Walters is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his daughters, Janet (Steven) Rouse, Sandra (Jeffory) Harris, and Nancy (William) Beaman; his grandchildren, Jonathan and Jenna Rouse, Grant Jackson, Ryan, Benjamin and Evan Harris, and Richard, Cathryn, and Aric Beaman; his sister, Judith (Thomas) Atkinson; his brother, Daniel Walters; and many cherished nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard E. "Dick" Walters; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Walters as an expression of our sympathy.
