SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Melvin J. Toyra of Waukegan, who passed away on June 20, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Toyra was born in Negaunee, Michigan on April 14, 1932; he moved to Waukegan in 1950, where he remained a longtime resident; he served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954; he married Charlotte Johnson on April 25, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Toyra retired from Johns Mansville in 1994, after 40 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Toyra was a member of the Homer Dahringer American Legion Post 281, Chain O'Lakes Model A Club, and the 2E Wisconsin Antique Power and Collectibles Society; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Toyra was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte, and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Toyra is survived by his children, Robert Toyra, David (Patricia) Toyra, and Peter Toyra; his grandsons, Sean, Thomas, and Colin Toyra; his brothers, Richard (Nancy) Toyra and William Toyra; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Melvin J. Toyra, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Melvin Toyra as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
