SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frederick Ray Sparks, Sr. of Rock Island, who passed away on June 19, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Sparks, Sr. was born on October 15, 1938 in Hannibal, Missouri; his parents were Lewis and Irene Herring Sparks; he married Sharon Lynne Minnich on August 9, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Sparks, Sr. proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Sparks, Sr. worked as a union pipefitter for United Association Local 25 in Rock Island for many years until his retirement in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Sparks, Sr. was a gifted mechanic and welder; he was also an avid duck hunter, deer hunter, and all-around outdoorsman; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Sparks, Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; his parents; and his sister, Norma Tollenaer; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Sparks, Sr. is survived by his children, Lewis (Kym) Sparks II, Frederick R. "Pete" Sparks, Jr., and Lynne Sparks; his grandchildren, Fred Sparks III, Dr. Jesse (Omid Keshtkar) Sparks, and Jamie Sparks; and his great-granddaughter, Alexis McClay; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Frederick Ray Sparks, Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frederick Sparks, Sr. as an expression of our sympathy.
