SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jessie M. Champion of Granite City, who passed away on June 20, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Champion worked as a housekeeper at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Champion was a member of the Eastern Star and Pontoon Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Champion was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Champion; her son-in-law, Terry Greathouse; her parents, Herman Huffhines and Viola (Lenze) Kimmel; five brothers; and three sisters; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Champion is survived by her daughters, Sandra Gibson, Sharon Greathouse, Sue (Jack) Palmer, and Rebecca Ohlund; her grandchildren, Ronnie, David, Dennis, Shanna, Daniel Gibson, Terry Cory, Zachery, and Joshua Whitt; and her great-grandchildren, Jayden Whitt, Dreamer Whitt, and Cameron and Braden Gibson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jessie M. Champion, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jessie Champion as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
