SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Beth M. Shannon of Geneva, who passed away on June 12, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Beth Shannon was born in Antigo, Wisconsin to Francis and Donna (Matzke) Gilson on February 5, 1962; she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire; and

WHEREAS, Beth Shannon was passionate about teaching and was a longtime 5th grade teacher at Western Avenue School in Geneva; and

WHEREAS, Beth Shannon enjoyed baking and shopping and had a beautiful flower garden every year; she also loved spending time with her family; and

WHEREAS, Beth Shannon was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Hugh Shannon, and her sister-in-law, Angela Shannon; and

WHEREAS, Beth Shannon is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Dan; her children, Eryn and Bret; her parents; her brothers and sisters, Tom Gilson, Nancy Gilson, David (Katie) Gilson, and Sue (Michael) Felder; her mother-in-law, Jean Shannon; her sisters-in-law, Heather (Rob) Baker and Tam (Joe) Stegall; her nieces and nephews, Annabel, Ainsleigh, Cade, Cole, Corey, Alex, Rachel, James, Nick, Luke, Stephanie, Emily, and Casey; and many dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Beth M. Shannon, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Beth Shannon as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
