SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lillie Pearl Williams, who passed away on June 19, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Lillie Williams was born on July 27, 1927 in Greenwood, Mississippi; her parents were George and Lillie Stigler; after the death of her parents, her older sister and brother-in-law moved the family to Chicago in 1942; and

WHEREAS, Lillie Williams worked for a fur company for many years and was able to look at mink coats and tell if they were real; she was later employed at the Brach's Candy Company; and

WHEREAS, Lillie Williams accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age; she later joined Proviso Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Claude Porter; and

WHEREAS, Lillie Williams' home was always open to family members who needed her help; she enjoyed being around her good friends and family, especially her sisters; and

WHEREAS, Lillie Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Williams; her parents; four sisters; and two brothers; and

WHEREAS, Lillie Williams is survived by her children, Walter, Jr., Lawrence, and Gloria Jean; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Clara Hood and Lula (Evelyn) Strickland; her sister-in-law, Derethia Stigler; and many nephews, nieces and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Lillie Pearl Williams; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lillie Williams as an expression of our sympathy.
