SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jack Michalski, who passed away on June
45, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Michalski was born on September 16, 1934 in
6Moline; his parents were John and Catherine Michalski; he
7married Mary Kathryn Normoyle on May 7, 1955 at the former St.
8Joseph's Church in Rock Island; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jack Michalski graduated from Alleman Catholic
10High School and the University of Omaha; he later earned his
11Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jack Michalski served his country with honor and
14dignity in the United States Army, retiring after 22 years of
15service at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel; he served many tours
16in the United States and abroad, including tours in Italy,
17Germany, Hawaii, and Vietnam; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jack Michalski was a prominent businessman and
19active community leader in the Quad-Cities community; he was a
20Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Allouez Council in Rock
21Island and president of the Rock Island County Historical

1Society; he also served as president of the Military Officers
2Association of America for the Quad-City Chapter and the larger
3Illinois Council; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jack Michalski had many leisurely interests,
5including the Boy Scouts, golfing, fishing, meeting with his
6morning coffee group, and walking his beloved dogs throughout
7his neighborhood; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jack Michalski was preceded in death by an infant
9daughter; one brother; and one sister; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jack Michalski is survived by his wife of 61
11years, Mary Kay; his son, Mark Allen (Vicki); his daughters,
12Karen Marie (Bob) Sarazin and Lisa Ann (Gregg) Miller; his 10
13grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and his sisters,
14Virginia Lievens and Rosalie Michalski; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
17family and friends, mourn the passing of Jack Michalski; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Jack Michalski as an expression of
21our sympathy.
