SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jack Michalski, who passed away on June 5, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Jack Michalski was born on September 16, 1934 in Moline; his parents were John and Catherine Michalski; he married Mary Kathryn Normoyle on May 7, 1955 at the former St. Joseph's Church in Rock Island; and

WHEREAS, Jack Michalski graduated from Alleman Catholic High School and the University of Omaha; he later earned his Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University; and

WHEREAS, Jack Michalski served his country with honor and dignity in the United States Army, retiring after 22 years of service at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel; he served many tours in the United States and abroad, including tours in Italy, Germany, Hawaii, and Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, Jack Michalski was a prominent businessman and active community leader in the Quad-Cities community; he was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Allouez Council in Rock Island and president of the Rock Island County Historical Society; he also served as president of the Military Officers Association of America for the Quad-City Chapter and the larger Illinois Council; and

WHEREAS, Jack Michalski had many leisurely interests, including the Boy Scouts, golfing, fishing, meeting with his morning coffee group, and walking his beloved dogs throughout his neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, Jack Michalski was preceded in death by an infant daughter; one brother; and one sister; and

WHEREAS, Jack Michalski is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Kay; his son, Mark Allen (Vicki); his daughters, Karen Marie (Bob) Sarazin and Lisa Ann (Gregg) Miller; his 10 grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Virginia Lievens and Rosalie Michalski; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Jack Michalski; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jack Michalski as an expression of our sympathy.
