SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael Ward Adler, who passed away on
4May 31, 2016 at the age of 55; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Adler was born to Joseph and Joanne
6"Jodie" (Biddle) Adler; he attended Northern Illinois
7University and married Joanne Costello in 1984; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Michael Adler served as Vice-President of J. L.
9Adler Roofing Company of Joliet - a fourth generation roofing
10company that was founded by his grandfather, Joseph L. Adler,
11in 1926; he was a trusted and honest businessman that made many
12friends in the industry; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Michael Adler served as Secretary/Treasurer of
14the Contractors Association of Will & Grundy County; he was
15named Man of the Year in 2012; he served as President of the
16Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Joliet; he was a
17member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Naperville,
18where he served on the parish council and children's ministry;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Michael Adler loved the Chicago Blackhawks and the
21Chicago Cubs; he enjoyed having a cold one with friends, going

1on trips with his family, and tiki bars in Sarasota, Florida;
2he had fond memories of his family's trip to Ireland, where he
3even won a limerick contest; he could often be found on the
4soccer field or basketball court coaching his kids' teams; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Adler was preceded in death by his mother,
6Joanne, and his sister, Margaret Mary; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Michael Adler is survived by his wife of 31 years,
8Joanne; his children, Kelly, Erin (Dave) Skaggs, Mike
9(Caitlin), and Collin; his brothers and sisters, Dan, Teddy
10(Ray) Finney, Jackie (Sam) Tucci, Chris (Lori), and Jay
11(Patty); his grandson, Benjamin Adler; and numerous nieces and
12nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Michael Ward Adler, and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Michael Adler as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
