SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of former Pontiac Police Chief William Carter, who passed away on February 20, 2015; and

WHEREAS, William Carter began working at the Pontiac Police Department on May 20, 1970 and spent over 23 years with the department; and

WHEREAS, William Carter became Chief of the Pontiac Police Department in 1988; and

WHEREAS, William Carter retired in September of 1993; he became a leader for Mobile Team Unit 8, which trained and kept police officers up to speed with the changing methods of the profession; and

WHEREAS, William Carter was respected and admired by his fellow officers, both as a leader and as a law enforcement professional; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of former Pontiac Police Chief William Carter, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Carter as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
