SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Freddie Tegel of Waukegan, who passed away on May 29, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Freddie Tegel was born in Waukegan on February 28, 1927 and resided there his entire life; he graduated from Waukegan High School; he was a Private in the United States Army, 304th Operations Signal Battalion in Japan starting on May 7, 1945 through December 15, 1945, when he received his Honorable Discharge; and

WHEREAS, Freddie Tegel was a Lieutenant on the Waukegan Fire Department and retired after over 28 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Freddie Tegel was a past member of Mother of God Church and Queen of Peace and attended St. Anastasia; he was a member of the North East Illinois Retired Firefighters Association, SNPJ (Slovenic National Home), and the Loyal Order of the Moose; and

WHEREAS, Freddie Tegel was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; his brother, Stan; and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Freddie Tegel is survived by his son, Don (Julie) Meadie, and his grandson, Patrick Meadie; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Freddie Tegel, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Freddie Tegel as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
