SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Illinois State Senator Tim Bivins and the members
3of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of
4Albert J. Tieken of Dixon, who passed away on June 1, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken was born on April 21, 1929 in Oak
6Park; his parents were John and Wilhelmina Tieken; he married
7Nellie Clausen on September 6, 1953 in Sycamore; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken was a veteran of the United States
9Army; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken taught agriculture at Lee Center,
11Amboy, and Dixon High Schools for many years prior to his
12retirement in 1986; after his retirement, he taught
13horticulture and landscaping at Sauk Valley Community College;
14he also started the first recycling program in Dixon; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken was a member of St. Anne Catholic
16Church in Dixon and American Legion Post 12; he was also active
17in the Dixon Combined Veterans Group and was a member of the
18original Sugar Grove Church Restoration Committee; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken enjoyed joking and spending time
20with his grandchildren, teaching music and playing the piano,

1beekeeping, wine and beer making, reading, traveling, hunting,
2the outdoors, and trying new foods; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken was preceded in death by his parents
4and his sister, Elaine Dufault; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken is survived by his loving wife of 62
6years, Nellie; his children, Terri (Illinois State Senator Tim)
7Bivins, Deb (Jim Nagy) Tieken Catalina, and Bob (Barb) Tieken;
8his grandchildren, Lindsey (Billy) Johnson, Ryan (Jordan)
9Bivins, Chris (Letha) Catalina, Brian (Tina) Catalina, Gabriel
10Tieken, Sarah (Greg) Myers, and Caleb Tieken; his
11step-grandchildren, Stephanie (Dave) Hanrahan and Jake (Rose)
12Angleton; and 23 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
15family and friends, mourn the passing of Albert J. Tieken; and
16be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Albert Tieken as an expression of
19our sympathy.
