SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rev. Phillip Dressler of Edison Park, who
4passed away on May 26, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rev. Dressler was born in Chicago on November 7,
61935; he attended St. Andrew School in Chicago and Quigley
7Preparatory Seminary; he graduated from the University of St.
8Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary; he was ordained into the
9priesthood on May 1, 1961; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Rev. Dressler served as Assistant Pastor at St.
11Ita Parish in Chicago from 1961 to 1965 and at St. Anne Parish
12in Barrington from 1965 to 1972; in 1979, he was named Pastor
13of Immaculate Conception Parish and served in that capacity
14until 1985; that same year, he was named Pastor of Queen of
15Angels Parish on Western Avenue and remained there for ten
16years; he moved to St. Juliana Parish when he became Pastor in
171995 and served until his retirement in 2005, when he was named
18Pastor Emeritus; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rev. Dressler had a big heart and was extremely
20generous; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Rev. Dressler enjoyed playing golf and his

1favorite time of year was Christmas; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Rev. Dressler is survived by his brother, Joseph
3Dressler; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Rev. Phillip Dressler, and extend our sincere condolences to
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Rev. Dressler as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
