SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rev. Phillip Dressler of Edison Park, who passed away on May 26, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Dressler was born in Chicago on November 7, 1935; he attended St. Andrew School in Chicago and Quigley Preparatory Seminary; he graduated from the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary; he was ordained into the priesthood on May 1, 1961; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Dressler served as Assistant Pastor at St. Ita Parish in Chicago from 1961 to 1965 and at St. Anne Parish in Barrington from 1965 to 1972; in 1979, he was named Pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish and served in that capacity until 1985; that same year, he was named Pastor of Queen of Angels Parish on Western Avenue and remained there for ten years; he moved to St. Juliana Parish when he became Pastor in 1995 and served until his retirement in 2005, when he was named Pastor Emeritus; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Dressler had a big heart and was extremely generous; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Dressler enjoyed playing golf and his favorite time of year was Christmas; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Dressler is survived by his brother, Joseph Dressler; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rev. Phillip Dressler, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rev. Dressler as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
