SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kim Splain of Jacksonville, who passed away on May 21, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Kim Splain was born on November 25, 1952 in Jacksonville; his parents were Freddie and Norma Jean Bartlett Splain; and

WHEREAS, Kim Splain served as a paratrooper in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was proud to have walked to Washington, D.C., in 1981 to raise funds for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial; and

WHEREAS, Kim Splain was a salesman at Front Row in Jacksonville for many years; and

WHEREAS, Kim Splain was a 37-year member of American Legion Post 279 in Jacksonville and served as Commander for 14 years; he was also a member of Sons of the American Legion; and

WHEREAS, Kim Splain loved adventure, whether it was jumping out of an airplane or zip-lining with his buddy Joe; he loved to travel, especially to Hawaii and Bermuda with his companion; he also enjoyed watching "The Rifleman", NASCAR, and "The Walking Dead"; and

WHEREAS, Kim Splain was preceded in death by his mother; and

WHEREAS, Kim Splain is survived by his companion, Debbie Doerr; his daughter, Brandi Splain; his grandchildren, Trey and Ashton; his father; his sister, Rae Lynn Dawson; his brother, Stuart Splain; and his dog, Sugar; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Kim Splain; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kim Splain as an expression of our sympathy.
