SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard A. "Dick" Puder, Sr. of Silvis,
4who passed away on May 19, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Puder, Sr. was born on October 17, 1941 in
6Martinsburg, Iowa; his parents were Everard and W. Olive Meeker
7Puder; he married Sandra Detwiler on June 28, 1969 in Rock
8Island County; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Puder, Sr. attended school in Martinsburg
10and What Cheer, Iowa; he enlisted in the United States Army in
111959 and served as a tank commander in the 14th Armored Cavalry
12Regiment in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, on the East German/West
13German border until 1962, when he was honorably discharged; and
 
14    WHEREAS, In 1965, Richard Puder, Sr. moved to Silvis and
15began working for the John Deere Plow Planter Works in Moline;
16he worked in the Inspection and Cylinder Testing and
17Development Department for 35 years until his retirement in
18January of 2000; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard Puder, Sr. was active in the Tri-City
20Motorcycle Club, racing motocross and enduro on the national
21circuit from 1965 to 1978 and as an AMA District 17 referee

1from 1976 to 1980; he was a lifelong outdoorsman and loved
2adventure; he spent as much time as he could canoeing,
3backpacking, cycling, and mountaineering in remote wilderness
4areas; he was active in the YMCA Indian Guides and
5Trailblazers, Saukenuk Paddlers Canoe Club, Iowa Mountaineers,
6Quad City Bicycle Club, and as a leader in the Illowa Council
7Boy Scouts of America and Order of the Arrow; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Richard Puder, Sr. was preceded in death by his
9parents; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Puder, Sr. is survived by his wife of 46
11years, Sandra; his son, Richard (Meridith) Puder, Jr.; his
12daughter, Kat (Timothy) Johnson; and his grandson, Jonathan;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
16family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard A. "Dick"
17Puder, Sr.; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Richard Puder, Sr. as an expression
20of our sympathy.
