SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard A. "Dick" Puder, Sr. of Silvis, who passed away on May 19, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Richard Puder, Sr. was born on October 17, 1941 in Martinsburg, Iowa; his parents were Everard and W. Olive Meeker Puder; he married Sandra Detwiler on June 28, 1969 in Rock Island County; and

WHEREAS, Richard Puder, Sr. attended school in Martinsburg and What Cheer, Iowa; he enlisted in the United States Army in 1959 and served as a tank commander in the 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, on the East German/West German border until 1962, when he was honorably discharged; and

WHEREAS, In 1965, Richard Puder, Sr. moved to Silvis and began working for the John Deere Plow Planter Works in Moline; he worked in the Inspection and Cylinder Testing and Development Department for 35 years until his retirement in January of 2000; and

WHEREAS, Richard Puder, Sr. was active in the Tri-City Motorcycle Club, racing motocross and enduro on the national circuit from 1965 to 1978 and as an AMA District 17 referee from 1976 to 1980; he was a lifelong outdoorsman and loved adventure; he spent as much time as he could canoeing, backpacking, cycling, and mountaineering in remote wilderness areas; he was active in the YMCA Indian Guides and Trailblazers, Saukenuk Paddlers Canoe Club, Iowa Mountaineers, Quad City Bicycle Club, and as a leader in the Illowa Council Boy Scouts of America and Order of the Arrow; and

WHEREAS, Richard Puder, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Richard Puder, Sr. is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra; his son, Richard (Meridith) Puder, Jr.; his daughter, Kat (Timothy) Johnson; and his grandson, Jonathan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard A. "Dick" Puder, Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Puder, Sr. as an expression of our sympathy.
