SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Minevar Ramsey, who passed away on May
416, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Minevar Ramsey was born in DeKalb, Mississippi to
6Estella Stennis and Henry Ramsey on July 27, 1933; she joined
7Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 1944, where she worked
8with the Usher Board and the Young Adult Choir; she attended
9John Robinson and Washington Elementary Schools, Hughes Quinn
10Junior High, and graduated from Lincoln Senior High School on
11January 24, 1952; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Minevar Ramsey pursued a career as a clerk for
13School District 189 until she retired in 1981; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Minevar Ramsey loved working in her garden and
15backyard; she was an elegant woman of style who loved fashion
16and decorating; she had a passion for cooking and spent
17numerous hours baking her favorite sweet potato and apple pies
18and her famous greens; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Minevar Ramsey was preceded in death by her
20parents; her sisters, Daisy and Mattie; and her brothers,
21Hollis, Fred, Henry Jr., Stennis, and Sam; and

1    WHEREAS, Minevar Ramsey is survived by her sons, Marquis
2(Lametria) Ramsey and Kevin (Doreen) Ramsey; her
3granddaughters, Tamara Gibbs, Kajavia Ramsey, Samiya Ramsey,
4Tresnae Ramsey, and Amariell Ramsey; her grandsons, Marquis
5Ramsey Jr. and De'Dre Ramsey; her step-grandson, Jerrod Cross;
6her great-granddaughters, Keyontae Gibbs, Brittany Jennings,
7Samya Jennings, Tamna Jennings, and Markal Ramsey; her
8great-grandson, Ramonte Gibbs; her great-great-granddaughter,
9Naomi Mosley; her great-great-grandson, Ashton Gibbs; her
10special nephew, Brady Lee Nunn; her special niece, Wendy
11McClain; her life-long childhood friend, Lillian Blackmon; and
12numerous loving relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Minevar Ramsey, and extend our sincere condolences to her
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Minevar Ramsey as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
