SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Barbara Jean Furlan of Wadsworth, who
4passed away on April 18, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Furlan was born in Waukegan to Lawrence
6and Mary Stanczak on March 8, 1944; she graduated from Holy
7Rosary Catholic Grade School and North Chicago High School; she
8attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and
9Lake Forest College; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Barbara Furlan spent most of her career as the
11President, and later owner, of Tolerance Manufacturing; she was
12able to work long hours while raising a family and volunteering
13at church, school, and other charitable organizations; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Barbara Furlan was a longtime parishioner of St.
15Patrick Catholic Church in Wadsworth, where she served in many
16roles at the church and school; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Barbara Furlan organized many unforgettable
18events, including trips, family get-togethers, and competitive
19games of Uno; she enjoyed board games and went out of her way
20to make everything just a little more special; and

1    WHEREAS, Barbara Furlan enjoyed decorating the house for
2each holiday, creating wreaths, flower arrangements, knitting,
3and sewing; she was always up for a trip to Chicago and enjoyed
4a salted margarita, going to the theater, and dancing; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Furlan was preceded in death by her
6parents; her sisters, Carol Grasser and Marcia (Mike) Kuntz;
7and her brother, Larry (Maureen) Stanczak; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Barbara Furlan is survived by her loving husband
9of 50 years, Ken; her three children, Kim (Christopher) Finkel,
10Kelly (Kevin) Hunter, and Kevin (Mylinda) Furlan; and her
11grandchildren, Ashley, Nathan, Jillian, Maren, and Evan;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Barbara Jean Furlan, and extend our sincere condolences to her
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Barbara Furlan as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
