SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William Douglas Jones of Woodstock, who passed away on March 24, 2016; and

WHEREAS, William Jones was born on February 28, 1926 in West Frankfort; his parents were William and Mary Jones; he married Mary Karroll on April 3, 1948; and

WHEREAS, William Jones proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in Germany during World War II; and

WHEREAS, William Jones was a member of the Plumbers Local Union 93 for over 50 years with a career working as a residential plumber in new construction; and

WHEREAS, William Jones had the privilege of being a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Palatine and Calvary Baptist Church of Woodstock (now Doxa Fellowship), where he served as a deacon, Music Ministry leader, and teacher and helped in building four churches; and

WHEREAS, William Jones enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, listening to music, participating in or watching sports events; he was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears; and

WHEREAS, William Jones was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul (Helen), his sisters, Jessie (Foster), Florence (Sam), and Grace (Ken); his four brothers-in-law; and his sister-in-law; and

WHEREAS, William Jones is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Jones; his children, Doug (Jan) Jones and Judi (Bruce) Jefko; his grandchildren, Mike (Mary Ellen), Michelle (Toby), Mark (Terri Jo), Chris, Jason (Nicole), and Staci (Christopher); and his 15 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of William Douglas Jones; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Jones as an expression of our sympathy.
