SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert W. Hagen of Spring Grove, who passed away on March 29, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hagen was born in Chicago to Alfred and Angeline (Stein) Hagen on March 31, 1949; he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968 and was sent to Vietnam in 1970; he was honorably discharged in 1974 as an Electronics Technician (Radar) Petty Officer 3rd Class; he married Ilona Semper on July 6, 1974; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hagen worked for Lincoln Glass in Chicago as a window glazier; he later worked for a financial company as a computer programmer; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hagen loved working with computers, radios, and ham radios; he had an extraordinary interest in space and astronomy; much of his free time was spent woodworking and building furniture for his family; he was a very loving husband and father and a doting grandfather; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hagen was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hagen is survived by his wife, Ilona; his daughter, Amanda Hagen; his son, Scott (Kim Schmitt) Hagen; and his granddaughter, Arya Hagen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert W. Hagen, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Hagen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
