SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald Edward "Dody" Hayes, who passed
4away on April 15, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Hayes was born on July 2, 1936 in Alton;
6his parents were Edward and Mary Helen Hayes; he married Donna
7J. Pierce on June 1, 1958 in Springfield; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Donald Hayes attended Western Military Academy
9and graduated from Alton High School in 1955; he started
10working at the Alton Telegraph in 1951 as a part-time stringer
11photographer; he also worked for the Illinois State Police from
121957 to 1960 as a Communications Clerk; in 1977, he left the
13State Police to become a full-time photographer at the Alton
14Telegraph, where he worked until his retirement in 1977;
15following his retirement, he spent 12 years working for the
16Alton Police Department in fleet maintenance; he also worked
17part-time for Argosy Casino Security for four years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Donald Hayes served as the 7th Ward Alderman for
19the City of Alton from 1978 to 1979; he also served as a
20Commissioner for the Alton Exposition for 20 years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Donald Hayes was a member of College Avenue

1Presbyterian Church in Alton; he was also a life member of the
2Illinois Police Association and a longtime associate member of
3the Southern Illinois Police Chiefs Association; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Donald Hayes was preceded in death by his wife,
5Donna; his parents; his brother, Jon D. Hayes; and his
6granddaughter, Stephanie Hayes; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Donald Hayes is survived by his sons and
8daughters-in-law, Daniel and Lisa R. Hayes, David and Julie
9Hayes, Doug and Barb Hayes, and Darrin and Lisa G. Hayes; his
10daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mark Macias; his
11grandchildren, Brian (Tara) Hayes, Scott Hayes, Courtney
12(William) Kinkel, Joni (Brandon) Whitfield, Lauren (Ryan)
13Hoefert, Hillary Macias, Jordan Hayes, Brittany Hayes, Kaitlyn
14Hayes, Rachel Hayes, Brandon Hayes, Emily Macias, and Natalie
15Macias; and his great-grandchildren, Blakely Kinkel, Cameron
16and Rilynn Hayes, Jackson Hoefert, and Caiden Nicholson;
17therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
20family and friends, mourn the passing of Donald Edward "Dody"
21Hayes; and be it further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
