SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ronald Frank Koeppl of Geneva, who passed away on March 10, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Koeppl was born in Chicago to Frank and Margaret Koeppl on October 7, 1939; he graduated from Elmhurst College and married Gretchen L. Koeppl in Evansville, Indiana on December 23, 1961; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Koeppl started his teaching career choosing to direct the school play over bus duty so he would not have to be out in the cold of winter; he started teaching at Haines Junior High School during the 1963-64 school year and finished with St. Charles High School during the 1993-94 school year; he retired after over 30 years of teaching English and Drama and 51 years of directing high school theatre; he also directed shows for community theatre groups, including Playmakers and the No Center Aisle Theatre Company; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Koeppl was honored by the Illinois Alliance for Arts Education in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Koeppl and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the world, visiting places such as Tahiti, Russia, Europe, and their beloved San Diego; in his retirement, he enjoyed connecting and keeping up with his former students and spending quality time with his grandkids; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Koeppl was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Gretchen; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Koeppl is survived by his children, Todd (Kristina) Koeppl and Scott (Heidi) Koeppl, and his four grandchildren, Tyler Austin, Samuel Carl, Kyle Xaver, and Anna Lorraine; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ronald Frank Koeppl, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ronald Koeppl as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
