SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gerald R. "Jerry" Herbst of Joliet, who
4passed away on January 6, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gerald Herbst was born in Joliet to Aloyis and
6Marie (nee Welter) Herbst; he graduated from St. John Grade
7School and Joliet Catholic High School in 1952 and received his
8masters degree in business from National Lewis University; he
9served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gerald Herbst retired from Sherwin Williams in
111994 after 42 years of service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gerald Herbst received a liver transplant in
13February of 1992; organ donation was very important to him and
14his entire family; he advocated organ donation by speaking at
15the Illinois Driver's License Bureau, libraries, and other
16events; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Gerald Herbst was an active member of St. Ambrose
18Catholic Church in Crest Hill; he enjoyed playing golf and took
19pride in the appearance of his house and yard; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gerald Herbst was preceded by his parents; his

1brother, Robert Herbst; and numerous aunts and uncles; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Gerald Herbst is survived by his wife of over 60
3years, Jean (nee Juricic); his 3 children, Fr. Robert Herbst,
4Order of Friars Minor Conventual, Rita Bottomley, and Renee
5Herbst; his grandchild, Elaine Bottomley; his sister-in-law,
6Joyce (the late Richard) Korst; his aunt, Cel Welter; and
7numerous cousins; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Gerald R. "Jerry" Herbst, and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Gerald Herbst as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
