SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Anne V. Gass, who passed away on February 13, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Anne Gass was born on April 17, 1957 in Sylvester, Georgia; her parents were Jasper and Irene Nether; she married Arthur J. Gass, Sr. on November 29, 1975; they were married for over 40 years and renewed their wedding vows on August 22, 2015; they traveled 7,604 miles across the country on their honeymoon; and

WHEREAS, Anne Gass was employed as a childcare provider, as an Accounts Payable Clerk for Moore Business Forms, and as a Program Administrative Assistant for the Black Chamber of Commerce of Lake County; she later dedicated her time to the care of her grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Anne Gass confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jones Chapel A.M.E. Church in Sylvester, Georgia; she was very active in her church and served in many ministries; she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, choir director, youth ministry director, deaconess, minister's wife, and Pastor's wife; and

WHEREAS, Anne Gass was the founder of the North Shore Baptist Ministers' Wives and Widows Organization and along with her husband, cofounded the Black Chamber of Commerce of Lake County, Family Housing Services of Lake County, and the Small Business and Contractors Academy, where she served as the Director of Growth and Development and as a member of the Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, Anne Gass was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Anne Gass is survived by her husband, Arthur, Sr.; her daughters, CaRita A. (Kedrick) Timms and LuSundra P. (Darl, II) Everett; her son, Arthur J. Gass, Jr.; her grandchildren, Jasper, Harrison, Donavyn, Darl, III, and Jaylen; her siblings, Willie Carl (Juanita) Nether, Mary Frances (Henry) McKinney, Johnny (Diane) Nether, and Ima Jean (Chester) Walker; and her many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and adopted children; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Anne V. Gass; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Anne Gass as an expression of our sympathy.
