SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Andrew C. Rheintgen of Round Lake Beach,
4who passed away on February 17, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Andrew Rheintgen was born in 1976 in Highland
6Park; his parents were Ward Rheintgen and Carolyn Gordon; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Andrew Rheintgen was a graduate of Libertyville
8High School and Western Illinois University; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Andrew Rheintgen was a Vernon Hills police officer
10for 16 years and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Andrew Rheintgen was a recipient of a Lifesaving
12Award for rescuing a resident from a burning house before
13firefighters arrived; he also received a commendation in 2014
14for his role in the arrest of a suspected serial arsonist; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Andrew Rheintgen was active in the department's
16community events, including National Night Out and the Special
17Olympics; he was also a "fanatical" supporter of the Chicago
18Bears, being a longtime season-ticket holder and often bringing
19his fellow police officers to games; and

1    WHEREAS, Andrew Rheintgen was preceded in death by his
2brother, Gary Gordon; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Andrew Rheintgen is the loving husband of Susan,
4whom he married on June 2, 2007 in Itasca, and an adoring
5father to Emily Rheintgen; he is also survived by his mother,
6Carolyn (Bruce) Gordon; his father, Ward (Carol) Rheintgen; and
7his siblings, Elizabeth (Michael) Downs, Michael (Christine)
8Riordan, and Jeff Gordon; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Andrew C. Rheintgen;
12and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Andrew Rheintgen as an expression of
15our sympathy.
