SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George Edward Strowmatt, who passed away on February 18, 2016; and

WHEREAS, George Strowmatt was born on April 8, 1939 in Roodhouse; his parents were Earl Waters and Martha (nee Elliott) Strowmatt; he married Marlene Hendrickson on August 1, 1957 in Senatobia, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, George Strowmatt retired from Laclede Steel in 1996 after many years of service; he was also a bus driver for Laidlaw; and

WHEREAS, George Strowmatt was a member of Cherry Street Baptist Church and a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #31; and

WHEREAS, George Strowmatt loved camping, deep sea fishing, football, watching University of Illinois basketball, and spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, George Strowmatt was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda McCleery; and

WHEREAS, George Strowmatt is survived by his wife, Marlene; his children, Elizabeth (Jim) Wilson, David (Melanie) Strowmatt, Annette (Rich) Fletcher, and Janice (Ron) Crosnoe; his 9 grandchildren; and his 8 great-grandchildren, with 2 on the way; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of George Edward Strowmatt; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Strowmatt as an expression of our sympathy.
