SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Domingo "Sonny" Garza of Waukegan, who passed away on January 27, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Domingo Garza was born in Mexico to Roberto and Celia on August 30, 1959; he graduated from Waukegan East High School in 1977; he married Maria Isabel "Mari" Mendez at Saint Joseph Parish in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Domingo Garza retired from AT&T after 32 years of service; he served 2 separate terms as a Waukegan School Board member; he ran for 5th Ward Alderman and was always a huge advocate for the Waukegan community; and

WHEREAS, Domingo Garza was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, and later, Most Blessed Trinity Parish; he assisted at the parish by coaching his daughters' various teams; he loved to travel, drive his Mustang, and attend community affairs; and

WHEREAS, Domingo Garza was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marie; and

WHEREAS, Domingo Garza is survived by his wife of 30 years, Maria Garza; his daughters, Veronica (Salomon) De La Cruz and Erica, Kimberly, and Marissa; his sister, Bertha (Jesus) Lopez; and his extended family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Domingo "Sonny" Garza, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Domingo Garza as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
