SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles L. "Charlie" Palmer of Savoy, who passed away on January 13, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Charles Palmer was born on May 18, 1931 in Champaign; his parents were Walter and Gertrude June (nee McKinley) Palmer; he was married to Barbara Palmer from 1957 to 1974; he married Roberta "Bobbie" Palmer on June 9, 1975 in Champaign; and

WHEREAS, Charles Palmer was a 1957 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law and practiced in Champaign County for 53 years; the majority of his career was in private practice at Franklin, Flynn, and Palmer (now Flynn, Palmer, Tague, and Jacobson); previously, he served as Assistant State's Attorney and Assistant City Attorney for Champaign, an interim public defender for Champaign County, and as outside counsel for the University of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Charles Palmer was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; his parents; and his son, Paul Palmer; and

WHEREAS, Charles Palmer is survived by his children, Mary (Jeff) Kane, Mindy (Joseph) Calcagno, Matthew (Missy) Palmer, and Mark (Emily) Palmer; and his grandchildren, Benjamin Kane, Brittany Kane, David Kane, Daniel Kane, Elizabeth Palmer, Angelina Calcagno, Elizabeth Calcagno, Christina Calcagno, Luke Palmer, Logan Palmer, Landon Palmer, Vera Palmer, and Elizabeth Palmer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Charles L. "Charlie" Palmer; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Palmer as an expression of our sympathy.
