SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles L. "Charlie" Palmer of Savoy, who
4passed away on January 13, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Palmer was born on May 18, 1931 in
6Champaign; his parents were Walter and Gertrude June (nee
7McKinley) Palmer; he was married to Barbara Palmer from 1957 to
81974; he married Roberta "Bobbie" Palmer on June 9, 1975 in
9Champaign; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Charles Palmer was a 1957 graduate of the
11University of Illinois College of Law and practiced in
12Champaign County for 53 years; the majority of his career was
13in private practice at Franklin, Flynn, and Palmer (now Flynn,
14Palmer, Tague, and Jacobson); previously, he served as
15Assistant State's Attorney and Assistant City Attorney for
16Champaign, an interim public defender for Champaign County, and
17as outside counsel for the University of Illinois; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Charles Palmer was preceded in death by his wife,
19Roberta; his parents; and his son, Paul Palmer; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Charles Palmer is survived by his children, Mary
21(Jeff) Kane, Mindy (Joseph) Calcagno, Matthew (Missy) Palmer,

1and Mark (Emily) Palmer; and his grandchildren, Benjamin Kane,
2Brittany Kane, David Kane, Daniel Kane, Elizabeth Palmer,
3Angelina Calcagno, Elizabeth Calcagno, Christina Calcagno,
4Luke Palmer, Logan Palmer, Landon Palmer, Vera Palmer, and
5Elizabeth Palmer; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Charles L. "Charlie"
9Palmer; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Charles Palmer as an expression of
12our sympathy.
