SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Bill" "Sarge" Norris of Brighton, who passed away on January 14, 2016; and

WHEREAS, William Norris was born in Alton to William and Bertha (nee Thomasson) Norris on January 2, 1943; he served in the United States Air Force and married Rachel Nadeau at Lac Baker, New Brunswick, Canada on March 9, 1963; and

WHEREAS, William Norris worked as a fireman at McDonnell Douglas for 16 years; he later became a policeman, retiring as Chief from the Brighton Police Department after 31 years of service in June of 2013; and

WHEREAS, William Norris was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Bill Davis; his niece, Carla Grammer; and his nephew, Brian Davis; and

WHEREAS, William Norris is survived by his wife, Rachel; his 4 children, Dr. William R. "Bob" (Julie) Norris, Pam (Mark) Savoie, John (Rhonda) Norris, and Kathy (Matt) Gahr; his 5 grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Sean, Travis, and Madison; his 2 great-grandchildren, Mark and Kelsie; his sister, Janet (Steve) Sanders; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William "Bill" "Sarge" Norris, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Norris as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
